Northwestern Medicine Proton Center

Northwestern Medicine Proton Center is the first proton therapy center in Illinois to bring this precise radiation treatment to patients with cancer. Our team of experienced radiation oncologists and highly skilled medical professionals are dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. The Center is equipped with state-of-the-art proton therapy technology, including:

  • 9th center in the US with over 13 years of experience treating patients with proton therapy
  • Four treatment rooms, including a 360° gantry room to ensure beam angles are optimized for the treatment
  • Pencil beam scanning technology to treat more complex tumors close to critical structures
  • Integrated with various specialties to support the proton treatment of both pediatric and adult patients
  • Expertise in proton therapy for ocular tumors
  • Multiple imaging options to optimize treatments, including a vertical CT scanner, dual energy CT, and cone beam CT
  • Ability to treat patients in an upright position

  • Adjacently located to Northwestern Medicine’s Warrenville Cancer Center, a comprehensive outpatient cancer treatment center and a healing garden between the two buildings
  • A robust Northwestern Medicine team, including social workers, nutritionists, child life specialists, etc.
  • Access to patient and family support through Northwestern Medicine’s Living Well Cancer Resource, providing many programs and services at no cost to those affected by or living with a cancer diagnosis
  • Support from the Ronald McDonald House near Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital for pediatric patients and their families to stay during treatment (based on referral)
