Patient Story – Vickie Weigel

  • April 7, 2020

Vickie received treatment at Oklahoma Proton Center

At the age of 50 I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. It was critical to me to protect my health as much as possible since I had a 12-year-old daughter who I was raising alone. I chose proton therapy because of the ability to deliver the treatment to the area needed without causing damage to my heart and lungs.

My cardiologist has been amazed that my heart is in great health after receiving treatment. Also, my reconstructive plastic surgeon was completely impressed with the quality of my skin in the treatment area.

I’m also privileged to have the opportunity to help other patients as the Patient Survivorship Manager at Oklahoma Proton Center.

My daughter is on her way to college this year, I got to help my older daughter plan her wedding and be present at the birth of my first grandchild! I’m thankful to God and my friends at the Oklahoma Proton Center!
