Last fall, experts from across the country gathered at the NAPT Research Forum in Washington, D.C. to discuss one of the most pressing issues in cancer care today: how to harness the expanding reach of proton beam therapy (PBT) to deliver maximum value for patients.
The collaborative event – co-hosted by NAPT, the Proton Collaborative Group (PCG), and the Particle Therapy Co-Operative Group–North America (PTCOG-NA) — brought together experts from proton centers across the nation for the first-ever intersociety research forum on particle therapy.
As new centers continue to open and access improves, the forum spotlighted the growing body of research aimed at defining when and where PBT offers the greatest benefit. With several major randomized trials nearing completion and early results beginning to shape clinical decision-making, the event marked a pivotal moment for the field. The proceedings published in the Red Journal (ASTRO’s International Journal of Radiation Oncology • Biology • Physics) capture highlights from the forum, emerging data, and key discussions that will influence the next phase of proton therapy utilization in the United States.
