March 19, 2024. – The National Association for Proton Therapy (NAPT), the nation’s leading organization dedicated to increasing patient access to advanced cancer treatments, today announced it will convene the 2024 National Proton Conference in Boston on April 6-9, featuring leaders in the field of particle therapy with an agenda focused on emerging clinical research, operational efficiencies, insurance authorizations and other issues critical to expanding the use of this life-saving cancer treatment nationwide.
NAPT will also release “The State of Proton Therapy,” its annual report based on the results of its most recent member survey. The only survey worldwide that tracks proton therapy trends, the report will include new data on the utilization of proton therapy, conditions treated, impact of insurance appeals and denials on patients, and growth among proton therapy locations and types of facilities.
New to the conference in 2024 will be the presentation of NAPT Excellence Awards, honoring clinical pioneers, patient advocates, cancer care heroes, and public service champions who have advanced the use and availability of proton therapy. Conference attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the Francis H. Burr Proton Therapy Center and the Mevion manufacturing facility.
“With proton therapy being used to treat a wider variety of conditions and more proton centers coming online, there has never been a more exciting time to convene the community’s leaders, experts and caregivers,” said NAPT Executive Director Jennifer Maggiore. “The 2024 National Proton Conference is an opportunity to learn, network and discuss ways to continue to make this life-saving treatment more practical, affordable and accessible for cancer patients nationwide.”
The three-day event at the Hilton Boston Park Plaza will feature speakers from more than 40 cancer centers. Presentations and panel discussions will cover topics such as breakthroughs in clinical research, payment policy initiatives, and solutions to expand proton therapy access. Industry Expert Theaters will also be hosted by IBA, presenting “Excellence in Proton Therapy Today & Tomorrow” and Mevion, presenting “Re-Imagining Proton Therapy: A Two-Decade Journey of Innovation.” An exhibition hall will feature industry partners and technology providers featuring the latest innovations in the field.
